Trauma Therapy in Kansas City &
Across Kansas and Missouri

Getting through the day shouldn't take everything you have.

You still show up. You still get things done, mostly. But underneath it there's a flatness, a heaviness, or a quiet exhaustion that doesn't go away with sleep. Things that used to feel easy now take more out of you than they should, and you're tired of pretending that's normal.

If you're a high-functioning adult who's tired of pushing through depression that no one else can see, you're in the right place.

What Depression Therapy With Me Looks Like

I'm Andrea Parfet, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker offering virtual depression therapy for adults throughout Kansas City and across Kansas and Missouri. I work primarily with people who look like they have it together and privately don't feel like it. The ones who keep showing up for everyone else, the ones who've gotten so good at functioning that no one around them realizes how heavy things actually feel.

I use EMDR and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), both evidence-based approaches for depression. CBT helps you identify and shift the thought patterns that keep you stuck in the same low place. EMDR goes a layer deeper, working with how your nervous system stores the experiences that taught it to shut down or disconnect in the first place. Together, they don't just help you manage depression. They help you feel like yourself again.

Common Signs You Might Be Dealing With Depression

  • Low energy or exhaustion that doesn't improve with rest

  • Losing interest in things that used to matter to you

  • Going through the motions without really feeling present

  • Trouble concentrating or making even small decisions

  • Feeling numb, flat, or disconnected from yourself and others

  • Looking fine on the outside while feeling anything but on the inside

Why Virtual Depression Therapy Works

Depression therapy over telehealth means you can do this work from your own home, without adding a commute or a waiting room to a day that already feels like a lot. For many of my clients, being in a familiar space actually makes it easier to show up, even on the days getting off the couch feels hard. Research consistently shows telehealth therapy produces outcomes equal to in-person care for depression.
